Overview
It’s what isn’t seen that makes Duofoil superior to other separator materials.
Duofoil is a reusable multilayer separator surfaced with a special non-stick, non-transferable, NASA approved, low friction coating, which eliminates costly stainless steel separator plates and release sheets. Duofoil allows the use of exact size copper during lamination, further reducing raw material costs.
Duofoil, in various thicknesses, allows for dramatically improved throughput by substantially increasing the number of boards per press opening.
Duofoil has superior thermal conductivity and more uniform heat distribution patterns than stainless steel separator plates, helping produce more consistent boards at improved yields.
When used with the UltraEdge multilayer edging system, Duofoil allows for the use of exact size materials for brick lamination for added savings and increased throughput.
- U.S. Patent No. 4,875,283
- U.S. Patent No. 5,256,474
Advantages
- Reusable multilayer separator.
- Increased MLB production while reducing labor costs.
- Eliminates the need for release sheets.
- Provides uniform heating for more consistent boards.
- Shipped cut-to-size, pre-punched and shrink wrapped for clean room operations.
- Recyclable.
- Tension leveled to meet flatness requirements.
- Excellent drill entry material. Eliminates burrs, serves as a heat sink, cleans the drill bit and will not contaminate the drilled hole.
- Various thicknesses allowing improved throughput by increasing the number of panels per book.
Specifications
Duofoil is composed of the best fully hardened aluminum alloys. The special coating will not transfer. It is the only coating to be approved by NASA.
At 25 mm (1") thicknesses, aluminum transmits heat at approximately 5.1 times the rate of stainless steel separators. Conductivity of thinner materials can be calculated as a linear function of the thickness of the material. Therefore a 0.38 mm (0.015") thick sheet of Duofoil transmits heat 20 times the rate of a 1.52 mm (0.060") stainless separator, 25 times that of a 1.90 mm (0.075") stainless separator and 30 times that of a 2.29 mm (0.090") separator.
